Black Friday:

For some it means working long hours (and possibly missing Thanksgiving dinner) in a retail store.

For others it means trampling strangers to get the BEST deal on that flat screen TV.

For you, a network marketer, it means a golden opportunity to stay home with family and make money while you eat your fair share of turkey.

BUT, it also means

  • Stress: you KNOW it’s a golden opportunity, but you have no idea how to treat it any differently than any other typical sale.
  • Overwhelm: People telling you left and right what you NEED to be doing, but uncertain as to who is right.
  • Defeat: seeing EVERYONE in your company make a bunch of new sales on Black Friday every year and poppin’ champagne bottles while you stare blankly at your computer at the end of the day because it was nowhere NEAR as successful as you imagined…or you never even took the first step!

Let me assure you that it’s PERFECTLY normal to both be excited AND dread Black Friday, especially if you don’t have a solid plan in place.

But…we need to change that.

In other words, this is NOT the time to hop on Instagram and Facebook, go through the motions posting about your incredible sale, and PRAY that your neighbor, Sally, sees it and BEGS you to send her the details.

This is a time to sit down, strategize, and set yourself up for success.

But, before you really dive into the specific strategies, you need to make sure you’re not making the BIGGEST mistake network marketers make on Black Friday.

“The biggest mistake network marketers make on Black Friday is that they sell solely on PRICE and not the VALUE that they have to offer their customers.”

It’s something I see pretty often, and it will completely change the way you approach Black Friday in your network marketing business.

The biggest mistake network marketers make on Black Friday is that they sell solely on PRICE and not the VALUE that they have to offer their customers.

Here’s what usually happens…

Your company comes out with a bunch of promotions with super low pricing and things like buy-one-get one free.

You get all excited, go run to social media – start posting all over, spamming the inboxes of everyone you know, letting them know about these incredible deals!! (it would be borderline INJUSTICE if you didn’t let them know about this crazy deal, right??)

BUT, your excitement fades out pretty quickly, because while you may have a few responses here and there, the sound of CRICKETS is pretty much all you hear.

Here’s what you need to realize…

If your ‘strategy’ for Black Friday is just selling everyone on the low price of your products, you’re NO different than everyone else.

The people you know are getting BOMBARDED this time of year with these kinds of promotions from literally every company out there.

There are millions of network marketers out there posting ‘amazing deals’ on Facebook, and thousands of other people in your own company posting the exact same thing as you.

I’m going to let you in on a big secret:

You MUST figure out a way to be different and stand out. That means you CANNOT do what everyone else does!

You might be saying “Well, sure, Bob. Easier said than done.”

But it’s not.

If your only selling point is your incredible price, you’re going with the crowd and doing what everyone else does.

You need to figure out how to sell your potential customers on the VALUE of what you’re offering them.

VALUE = the difference between the cost of the product and the benefit that the customer perceives they will get by using the product.

When you focus on selling value, it takes into account an important fact:

People don’t buy products, they buy the RESULTS they think that the product will give them.

People buy SOLUTIONS to problems that they have in their life, whether that’s being overweight, lack of energy, lack of confidence, bad looking skin, etc.

So, how do you create value and get people to see the NEED for your products?

Here’s my best advice on how to stand out from the crowd this Black Friday and sell people on VALUE instead of price.

1: Sell people on the TRANSFORMATION

Value starts with getting people to understand how the future on the other side of using your products will be better for them.

Take out a sheet of paper or a blank computer document and answer these 2 questions:

  • What are the PROBLEMS that your products solve?
  • What are the RESULTS that your ideal customer wants?

Your answers to these questions become your scripts for selling on Black Friday.

Say, for example, you’re marketing a gut health product.

When someone uses your product, what is the transformation that will occur for them?

You need to paint the picture of what their life will look like when those gut issues they have are solved.

What would it be worth to that person to not get sick as much anymore because of a better immune system?

To have a healthier heart and brain, or to sleep better and have a better marriage because their mood improves?!

Do you really think your customers are going to worry about the cost of your products, if they’re clear on the fact that this is what you’ve offering them?

Of course not!!

2: Sell them on the value of YOU

The idea of marketing yourself and selling prospects on the value of yourself is a really looked-over concept in network marketing.

One of the biggest things you are offering one of your potential customers is YOU!

It’s the education you provide them on helping them find the right product.

It’s the support you provide when it comes to using the product.

The encouragement and inspiration you provide them during their journey of getting the results they want, and solving those problems in their life.

Is someone from Amazon going to call them up and see how that new weight loss program they just bought is working out for them?

Is Jeff Bezos going to give shoot them a quick text message giving them some encouragement and emotional support in those early tough stages?

Is someone from Clinique going to stop by and see how their skin is doing with the new regimen they just started using?

Of course not!!!!

Let them know that they won’t be alone.

Remind them of why they need the products in the first place, and stop acting like a used car salesman.

You have SO much value to give to both your customers AND your prospects, and if you’re not using that to your advantage you’re missing out of arguably one of the most important pieces of this entire process.

I know this is going to take more time and effort, but I’m telling you it’s going to be worth it.
