It’s a sad truth, but most new entrepreneurs struggle early on in their business because they do not get much support from their close friends and family.

This harsh reality can be SO disappointing!

When it happens, you feel as though the people you care about most are unsupportive, that they doubt your decision and that you could be successful in this business.

But you need to start thinking about it from a different perspective.

We have a “relational account” with EVERY person in our lives.

Whenever you are generous with your time and attention for certain people, whenever you take the time to do something kind for certain people, and whenever you show genuine care or concern for certain people, you make a “deposit.”

If you are constantly making these “deposits’ in your life, you build up your account with people and they are more willing to listen to what you are doing, they are more willing to buy your products, and they are even more willing to trust your vision and join your team!

When you begin to approach people asking them to “help and support your new business” by trying your products or potentially join you, you are making a ‘withdrawal’ from that very same relational account!

However, if you haven't been diligent in making the deposits, the account is going to be empty.

Don’t get me wrong – the goal here isn’t to simply be nice in order to do better in your business.

Deposits in ‘relational accounts’ MUST be done with true generosity and authenticity.

This is a critical insight for any entrepreneur to understand.  You need to be constantly focusing on investing your time and energy into your network, building up these relational accounts, and understanding the long-term benefit this has to your business.

The good news is that, even if you feel like you currently have a negative balance in a ‘relational account’ with someone, you can always begin to turn this around by simply doing the things that we discuss in this podcast episode!
